Job Title: Project Engineer – Malt Distilling (Elgin)
Level: Contract
Reports To: Lead Project Engineer

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time (5 days per week)
  • Flexible hours: 8 AM – 6 PM
  • Hybrid model: 3 days per week on-site, with an expectation of 5+ days on-site during commissioning

 

Context & Scope

This role is responsible for executing Capex projects within the Diageo Global Engineering category, managing individual projects from concept to handover in Elgin.

 

Key Responsibilities & Dimensions

1. Safety

  • The safe execution of projects is the top priority.
  • Ensuring all activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

2. Financial Management

  • Oversee and manage a portfolio of projects, ensuring they align with budgetary constraints and cash flow targets.

3. Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Full responsibility for the delivery of Capex projects.
  • Lead and influence internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring accountability and compliance with project requirements.
  • Champion a zero-harm safety culture, setting clear expectations for health and safety.

 

Purpose of the Role

  • Develop, initiate, and implement Capex projects in line with the agreed Annual Operating Plan.
  • Collaborate with other business functions to ensure seamless integration of new projects into existing operations.
  • Deliver optimum shareholder value through the successful execution of Capex investments.

 

Key Accountabilities

  1. Deliver Projects with a focus on: 
    • Zero harm (safety-first approach).
    • On-time & in-full completion.
    • Cash flow management and adherence to budget.
    • Compliance with Diageo’s governance and legal standards.

 

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Extensive experience in civil engineering.
  • Proven project management expertise.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical problem-solving and auditing capabilities.
  • Effective facilitation and coaching skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Background in Mechanical Engineering, ideally with expertise in fluid transfer technology relevant to malt distilling (preferred but not required).
