Project Engineer (Civil)
Contract Length: 12 Months
Location: Leven, (On-site)
Role Overview
- A leader working in partnership with the Leadership Teams to deliver on initiatives to transform and improve business performance.
- The role is positioned in the Global Brands Supply, Project Engineering team, providing Capital
- Project support to manufacturing sites including distillation, brewing, spirits and beer packaging, and maturation warehousing. The overall purpose of this team is to deliver capital expenditure projects.
For this role, this includes:
- Development of requirement specifications in collaboration with other teams such as Operations.
- Using specialist knowledge to deliver capex projects to correct technical specification.
- Development of cost estimates and project schedules.
- Managing efficient spend for capex projects.
- Co-ordinating and managing external resources.
- Managing the project lifecycle, including capital approval, maintaining accurate financial data (spend and forecast), and project closure.
- Managing construction activities and overseeing commissioning activities.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental standards.
The role holder will have a mechanical, electrical, or process engineering background.
Key Responsibilities
Performance Partnering and Execution
- Performance Partner to Business Leaders with joint accountability for results through brilliant execution of IMPROVE projects.
- Continually pushing the boundaries for performance, using the FI Hopper and Loss and Waste analysis to drive action and delivery in alignment with the business plans.
Coaching and Support
- Coach on MMS practices, provide ITF support, and lead at least 1 practice.
- Working in partnership with Business Leaders to embed Manex tools and methodologies (e.g., Loss & Waste analysis, RCPS, DMAIC).
- Support Operation intact teams to drive an integrated approach to continuous improvement at T1 & T2.
Performance and Change Leadership
- Strong influencing skills required to lead and drive change projects deploying Brilliant Execution principles.
- Champion leveraging Manufacturing Excellence techniques and best practices on Management of Change.
- Consistently deliver great performance and role model a winning mind-set to the rest of the Operational Team and with key stakeholders.
Data Analytics and Standards Development
- Using data analytics to provide performance data and drive CI activities into the operation through insightful interpretation of data.
- Coaching and development of CIL standards (continuously evolving).
Other Key Responsibilities
- To conduct Permit Writing with support from Site Management Coordinator.
- Ability to Search and Spin ideas from within Diageo and from outside.
- Stand in the future to create possibilities for today, identifying opportunities to improve asset performance.
Key Accountabilities
Upholding Standards Through Practices
- Actively promotes and drives the implementation of MMS tools and techniques to drive business unit performance and deliver the business unit strategy.
- Closely monitors and reports performance and practice progress across areas.
- Engage with the Daily Operational Review meetings to provide expert analysis of performance improvement opportunities.
- Ensure that any improvements implemented are standardised and sustained within operations teams (sharing best practice).
Capex Project Support
- URS development, Business Paper submission to deliver against the CAPEX plan.
- Participate in and lead as required improvement projects using the DMAIC methodology (e.g., 5Why, FT-DMAIC, Yellow/Green Belt, Team A3s, etc.).
- Continuously drive for the next level of performance. Be bold on action planning and delivery.
Excellence in Supply Chain
- Experienced in delivering projects in a fast-paced environment, maximising the delivery performance of projects in terms of delivery to scope, time, and budget.
- Proven track record in adherence to Core Process and Standards.
- Demonstrates role model behaviour and coaches others to follow a consistent approach and go beyond mandatory minimum requirements.
- Proactively leverages the learning curriculums and materials on Diageo Academy and other sources to continuously grow and develop in role.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience or relevant qualifications relating to Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma / Manufacturing Excellence is desirable.
- The Nebosh Health and Safety qualification is a pre-requisite for the role – if you don’t already have it, you need to be willing to achieve this qualification.
- Relevant IBD qualification (desirable).
- Train the Trainer certification.
- DMAIC (fastrack).
