With a presence in over 180 countries and a wide portfolio of brands including Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Baileys, Tanqueray, and Guinness, we are looking for an experienced Digital Commerce specialist to work on developing our global Digital partnership with Walmart.  You will work in close partnership with other Global and key Walmart Market teams across Marketing, Brand, Commercial, Planning & Supply, Finance, and Digital & Technology (D&T) to shape the digital business and marketing opportunities with this key multichannel customer. This includes taking a hands-on approach for key initiatives from assessment of the landscape, development / delivery of strategy, to ideation and sell-in implementation to Diageo & Customer stakeholders and analysis for defined KPI of success.  As part of Diageo's major transformation into a digital-first, consumer-focused organization, this is a unique opportunity to work in the Global Digital Commerce team on exciting projects that connect our brands with consumers and customers in unprecedented ways.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: 

The purpose of the Global Walmart eCommerce role is to work with the broader Diageo Global Digital Commerce team, Global Walmart Commercial team, key markets and Customers to shape the digital business and marketing agenda and informing the effective go-to-market strategies and plans for with this customer.  This role will to step change the consumer engagement at the eCommerce touchpoints to increase both brand health, sales growth, deliver the defined 2028 Walmart eCommerce growth ambition and result in a “top 3 CPG” reputational score from the customer. 

The Walmart eCommerce Lead is embedded within the B2C Global eCommerce team and Walmart Global Team and will also play a critical role in influencing and facilitating the collaboration across multiple Global, Regional and Market cross-functional teams. As the Global Walmart eCommerce Lead, you will help define, implement, and refine the strategy for this customer and it’s growth within digital commerce, along with building tools and frameworks for success that are scalable across markets. The role requires building and maintaining strong relationships with relevant internal and external teams to drive cross-collaboration and prioritizing initiatives that drive significant commercial outcomes and more informed decision making with Walmart.  As a leading global omnichannel customer lead you will also have significant opportunity to shape not only the wider eGrocery channel strategy, approach and delivery but also the wider B2C & Global Commercial deliverables.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Facilitate the shaping of digital business and marketing opportunities with Walmart around the world (including Sam’s Club and Makro South Africa facias), and enable the step-changing of consumer/shopper engagement at eCommerce touchpoints to increase both Diageo brand and spirits category health and profitable sales growth globally  
  •  Drive global & priority market customer eJBPs, building best in practice frameworks to be shared globally with our wider Global markets and Digital Transformation team. This will include collaboration with a large number of key stakeholders across the various relevant global and local teams.  
  •  Lead the Walmart eCommerce relationship to help drive incremental growth (NSV + Market Share) in line with 2028 stated eCommerce sales ambition. To include developing and utilising rich performance “data to insights” that most efficiently direct organisational focus, organising market communication, community calls, and Global summits along with identifying strategic partnership opportunities that drive mutual growth and market expansion 
  • Work with the Global and in market customer teams to identify eCommerce opportunities for growth within Walmart including attending regular customer meetings, workshops and conferences 
  • Share and fully leverage Walmart, eGrocery sub channel & total eCommerce best practice across all relevant communities 
  • Drive cross functional collaboration – you will collaborate closely with the wider Global Digital Transformation teams and Sales, Marketing, Supply, Finance, and other relevant teams within the eCommerce Centre of Excellence, Global Commercial teams and Consumer Digital Transformation team 
  • Work with Diageo agency partners to develop customer plans, identify areas of growth, and strategies for Walmart and the wider eGrocery sub channel 

 

Competencies and Experience Required: 

  • Proven experience 4+ years working within Commercial strategy, Customer Management, eCommerce or Digital 
  • Experience working with international customers in a large multinational organization 
  • Strong knowledge of multinational retailers  
  • Energetic, relentless drive to succeed, team player 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration 
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights 
  • Used to working with a variety of stakeholders and building strong relationships 
  • Proven ability to help to manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Self-starter who is comfortable with a rapidly-changing environment 
  • It is essential to be able to collaborate with a number of global stakeholders and work within a cross functional capacity including working with the Global Digital Transformation team, Procurement, Global Customer & Channel teams, and champion the role and importance of ecommerce channels in consumer engagement to drive both sales and brand health outcomes, and serve as a subject matter expert to educate and influence key stakeholders. 
  • Engage the Marketing/Brand teams and their agencies to drive the agenda for digital activation of our brands with the ecommerce partners from both brand and performance marketing perspectives to increase share in brand health and sales. 
  • Foster a test-and-learn approach to accelerate the learnings and optimizations, and drive the agenda for access to data and reporting to enable actionable insights across channels, portfolio and marketing investment to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
