The Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator role supports the development and implementation of programs and strategies leading to a sustainable culture of safety and health at the Plainfield Global Supply facility. Reporting to the Safety & Risk manager,this role, in partnership with internal stakeholders, will assist in execution of local and corporate safety programs and practices and also provide training tools and processes for measuring safety outcomes. This position will be responsible for supporting several programs in occupational health and safety.KeyOutputs:•Support internal programs, ie. Charity Awards, Communications, SIRC, Safety Committee, Proactive Safety Awareness, and the Site’s Safety Day.•Coordinate the Safety Shoe and prescription Safety Glasses programs and track cost.•Coordinate the Hearing Conservation program annually.•Coordinate Drug, Physical and Alcohol testing programs and post offer testing in conjunction with Human Resources and Safety/Risk.•Case manage workers compensation claims to reduce cost and minimize lost time and restricted work cases and assure entry into the Entropy site.•Lead the Return to Work/ Fit for Duty at the site interfacing with Risk Management and Human Resources to ensure employees return to work safely.•Conduct health assessments, screenings, monitoring and counselling within the scope of nursing knowledge and practice.•Maintain health information to comply with HIPPA.•Conduct workplace walk-throughs and exposure follow-ups,•Provision of direct clinicalcare and referral to external health care providers and specialists as needed.•Maintain compliance with OSHA Record keeping requirements.•Champion First Responder training (CPR/1st Aid, Blood borne Pathogens and AED).•Provide proactive, effective and consistent safety program support to all business units to promote a positive safety culture and in maintain regulatory compliance.•Support on-going classroom occupational safety, health and compliance training.•Participate in the site safety audit program.•Prepare ad-hoc reports and presentations as necessary•Champion Health & Wellness Programs for the site, i.e. Influenza vaccinations, Blood pressure screening, etc.•Participate and manage programs related to Food SafetyQualificationsandExperienceDesired:•Associates Degree in Applied Sciences: Nursing, and holding a current RN License or BSN with current RN License preferred•Safety and Occupational Health work experience a minimum of 3-5 years•OSHA, safety and compliance certifications•Must be self-motivated able to work with minimum supervision•Training Presentation skills (classroom set-up)•Ability to engage, motivate and keep atmosphere fun•Not afraid to communicate and make recommendations for operations improvement•Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook•Able to work on a fast changing work environment•SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: OSHA, federal, state, and local safety standards; Ergonomics, Industrial hygiene, investigative techniques; excellent oral and written skills.•Valid certification in First Aid and CPR (instructor preferred)•Must be able to work occasional later hours.
